Oocyte freezing, also known as oocyte cryopreservation, is the method of preserving a woman’s eggs (oocytes). Eggs are harvested from the ovaries and frozen in an unfertilized condition to be used later. A frozen egg can then be thawed, combined with a sperm and implanted in a woman’s uterus during IVF to facilitate pregnancy in future.

Before undergoing treatment of cancer or any illness- Medicaltreatments like radiation and chemotherapy could harm your fertility. Egg freezing before the procedure allows you to conceive later in future.
During IVF procedure- Sometimes your partner may produce insufficient sperm on the day you have your egg retrieval process. This is when egg freezing may be done.
Preserving younger eggs for future use- You have the option of freezing eggs at a younger age and then have biological children later when the time is right.
